This year summers has been a tad bit uncharitable. Actually bearing the intensity of sun shining over my shoulders, as I sit with my laptop writing this post in my balcony, I believe “tad bit” doesn’t fit the bill. It is just 8 am in the morning and sun has come out in its full glory, its scorching heat disallowing even the gentlest of breeze. The last two days mercury has been hovering near 42 degrees Celsius, and this is one record that I hate to see being broken.
So what choices do we have than bearing the harshness of the weather? The adaptability has been the propensity of human race and we learn to adapt to the changing surroundings. To counter the scorching summers, several kiosks have mushroomed all across the city that have cool beverages like butter milk, lassi, fresh lime soda, Jal Jeera available all day on counter.
However you don’t always have to go out at these kiosks if you develop an urge to guzzle down these delicious beverages. These beverages are fairly easy to make at home and can be whipped up in no time as you feel the need to replenish yourself. As I stretch my legs to feel more settled, I am also sipping on to a glass of coolant-Pudina Mattha that missus had churned this morning.
Mattha is a spiced butter milk preparation that can be flavored with different ingredients. We have made a mint flavored butter milk preparation that enhances the coolant properties of this drink and replenishes the energy level fairly quickly. The roasted cumin powder adds the required zing to the recipe and even makes it aromatic.
Follow this recipe and make fairly easy Pudina Mattha this summer and get your falling energy levels replenished in no time.
