I am not a big fan of International Days as such. I belong to the camp which looks at such days, filled with skepticism, with a marketing lens. How suddenly every major E-commerce site starts reminding you of these events, days in advance and this results into marketing blitzkrieg as we approach the event. Enough of my bickering!
However, this is that one day on the calendar that I find myself succumbing to into celebration. If there is that one person in each family, who never takes a pause, never unwinds, works incessantly no matter whether you acknowledge their selfless effort or not, is a mother.
Probably, she must have adhered to her daily routine even today. Mother’s Day would be just like a regular day to her, filled with her daily chores- a task list which may seem daunting to us, but she carries through those tasks effortlessly. Now, please do not think I am demeaning her effort in anyway by making use of adverb- effortlessly. I am filled with admiration when I see a mother go through her daily work at home or office without even battling an eyelid- like a master conductor deeply engrossed at an orchestra.
Here’s what I would like to urge all my friends and people who are reading this. Try today, to let your mother know how significant she is in your life. How the castle of our life would come crumbling down into pieces without her being around. This is true to every mother in your family. So let this day be a no workday for all mothers in family. Make her feel pampered in your own sweet way- book an appointment for her with a masseur, send her out to see her friend. Let her not worry about the food that she needs to cook, the cleaning work she needs to do, utensils she needs to wash, clothes that she needs to send to laundry and countless other tasks that she does. Take this burden away from her today. It would be awesome- if we could do this every week, but let’s make a small start. Take that first step today.
Remember to wish her today and let her know that she holds a pivotal place in our life. She should feel valued, important, and acknowledged.
Here’s few lines from my favorite song dedicated to all mothers
I am dedicating this day to three significant mothers of my life- My Mother, My Wife and My sister
