Stir Fry Cabbage with chana dal-Cabbage Upkari

- 500 gm shredded cabbage
- ½ cup chana dal (split bengal gram)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- ½ tsp asafoetida
- Curry leaves
- 4 green chilies finely chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 cup grated fresh coconut
- Cooking Oil
- Salt
- Soak Chana Dal for 1 hour in water and drain it before cooking.
- Heat 3 tbsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida and green chilies and fry them for 1 minute.
- Now add soaked chana dal to the pan and fry it.
- Chana dal takes about 3 minutes to get cooked. Now add turmeric powder and fry it for 1 minute.
- Add cabbage to the pan and mix them all well.
- Cook cabbage covered on low flame using steaming process.
- Cabbage gets cooked in 25 minutes. Your cooking time may vary based upon quantity taken.
- Now add salt as per taste and mix it well with vegetable.
- Add grated fresh coconut and mix it well. Stir fry cabbage is ready to be served.
