Ingredients
  • 1 Cup=200gms Rava/Suji (Semolina)
  • 1 Cup=100gms Sweet Corns Kernel
  • 1 small=60gms Onion-finely chopped
  • ¼th Cup=50gms Carrot-finely chopped
  • ¼th Cup=50gms French Beans-finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 2 Green Chilies-finely chopped
  • ½-inch Ginger root-grated
  • 2 tbsp fresh Coriander leaves-chopped
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri Red Chili Powder
  • Salt
  • 5-6 Curry Leaves
  • Cooking Oil
  • 3 Cups Water
Instructions
  1. We will use a 750 ml Microwave safe bowl with a lid. Put Semolina in the bowl and add 2tbsp Cooking Oil and mix it well. Roast in microwave for 4 mins on High heat
  2. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 4 mins d) Press Start. Cook uncovered
  3. Remove after 2 mins and stir well. Keep the bowl back in Oven and resume the timer. Stir again after 1 min
  4. Keep the roasted Semolina aside
  5. In the same Microwave safe bowl, put 2 tbsp Cooking Oil. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves and cook on high heat for 4 mins
  6. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 4 mins d) Press Start. Cook uncovered
  7. After 4 mins, add grated Ginger and chopped Chilies
  8. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 2 mins d) Press Start. Cook uncovered
  9. After 2 mins, we will now add all the veggies in the bowl. Add chopped Onions, chopped Carrots, chopped beans and Sweet Corn Kernels. You can also add Green Peas if you like. Add salt to taste and mix well. Cook on High heat for 4 mins
  10. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 4 mins d) Press Start. Cook uncovered
  11. Veggies get cooked and yet retain its crunch in 4 mins of cooking. Now add red chili powder (optional) and chopped coriander leaves. Add roasted Semolina and mix well. Add water in ratio of 1:3 . For 1 Cup Semolina, add 3 Cups of water. Ensure there are no lumps in this mixture. Stir well. Cook covered for 4 mins on High heat
  12. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 4 mins d) Press Start. Cook covered
  13. Remove after 4 mins for a stir. Add lime juice. Do not worry about the excess water that you can see in Upma. Semolina will soak all the water after stirring
  14. Now, cook uncovered on high heat for 1 min
  15. a) Mode: Micro b) Power: 900W (High) c) Timer: 1 min d) Press Start. Cook uncovered
  16. Corn Upma is ready to be served. Let's serve hot
